TestAmerica ASL is staffed by scientific professionals who support some of the most technically challenging projects around the world.  The laboratory offers a broad range of capabilities with an emphasis on treatability and process engineering studies, aquatic toxicity and bioassay as well as routine laboratory tests for VOAs, BNAs, wet chemistry and project oriented specialty tests.

Treatability Research Laboratory

The Treatability Research Center specializes in bench scale treatment and technology development for water, wastewater, soil, and solids. Technologies are developed or evaluated, and processes are optimized to determine the most effective solution for meeting our clients’ project objectives. Treatability evaluations may include the following:

  • Jar testing and zeta potential analysis
  • Ozone treatment and/or advanced oxidation (AOP) treatment
  • Disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation potential tests
  • Rapid Small Scale Column Tests (RSSCT) for adsorptive media
  • Stabilization and solidification evaluations
  • In Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) testing

The highly qualified bioassay laboratory (one of only two U.S. Department of Defense accredited laboratories in the world) provides a full range of evaluation and testing services. Our National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) / toxicity compliance experience spans a broad range of contaminants and aquatic environments (e.g., freshwater, estuarine, lake, stream, wetland, and tidal). The staff performs thousands of toxicity tests ranging from simple acute testing to lifecycle chronic and bioaccumulation studies. This experience includes testing over 40 different marine and freshwater vertebrate, invertebrate, algal, and plant species. Representative services include:

  • Toxicity Reduction Evaluations (TREs)
  • Toxicity Identification Evaluations (TIEs)
  • Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) Tests
  • Toxicity Treatability Evaluations (TTEs)

  • Nonaqueous phase liquid (NAPL) mobility and hydrocarbon identification
