Emerging Contaminants
Emerging Contaminants is a category of chemicals being researched for their risk to human health and the environment and the increasing frequency they are being detected in the environment. Included in the Emerging Contaminants category are chemicals such as Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products (PPCP's), Endocrine Disrupting Compounds, Perfluorinated Compounds and Flame Retardants such as PBDE's.
TestAmerica offers an extensive suite of analytical capabilities for the determination of Emerging Contaminants in environmental matrices. Many studies have characterized PPCP and Emerging Contaminants in the waters across the country. As the effects of these contaminants unfold, researchers are beginning to look for these chemicals in sediments and tissues.
TestAmerica continues to partner with public and private researchers looking for PPCPs as they pass from non-point sources into sensitive ecosystems. Our method development has expanded our capabilities into the sediment and tissue matrices where endocrine disruption is occurring. TestAmerica's success with complex matrices is helping to answer questions on where these Emerging Contaminants may be lurking.
